Etizolam is mostly used in short-term treatment of chronic anxiety disorder, insomnia, and panic attacks. This drug is also useful for the treatment of specific physical ailments like back pain and headaches. The etizolam drug functions in similar ways like other drugs of the benzodiazepine family. Besides that, it also targets the neurotransmitter in the brain and stimulates it, so that slows the nerve pulses. This drug, however, is only closely related to benzodiazepine but not in that family entirely.

 Though etizolam drug is considered to be the best among its class, it also has some sedative and sleep-inducing effects. This is why the medication is mostly prescribed for the short-term treatments. Using this drug for extended periods can bring about the risk of developing some rebound symptoms like rebound insomnia, and rebound anxiety.
